Mark Salling “Glee” and Marianna Riccio (Singers/Songwriters)

Marianna Riccio met Mark Salling, who plays bad boy, “Puck” on Glee, at an exclusive event at Siren Studios hosted by Blackberry. Coincidently, the next day, Marianna and her girlfriend met his friend Cory Monteith, who plays Glee’s star quarterback, “Finn” at the Teen Choice Awards Post-Party. Besides partying on those night, Mark seemed passionate about completing the finishing touches on his upcoming album. It was a big undertaking as he produced and wrote each song, a mix of Rock ‘n’ Roll and alternative jazz.

Some of you may know that Marianna is also a singer/songwriter. Her music is in the pop genre with an international touch.

I look forward to many more “Glee-ful” musical episodes but also the creativity of new artists hitting the music scene. If you call me a “Gleek,” it’s okay. I was a member of my schools Glee Club and grew up feeling like a freak too. All of us “Gleeks” are cheering on the will of the underdog and the importance of art in education.

Glee is already causing quite a stir, winning a Golden Globe Award for “Best Television Series, Comedy/Musical”, SAG Award, “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series”, People Choice Award, “Favorite New TV Comedy” etc… This year, Jane Lynch won the Emmy for “Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” and Glee’s co-writer, Ryan Murphy for Directing.

It was a coincidence to see that Glee named their CD “Showstoppers,” since I have performed with some of the former Dean Martin Golddiggers in a musical tribute to the entertainment legends with whom we performed which is also called, “Showstoppers.”

  1. In prayer and sorrow, I think of Cory. Last night, the cast of “Glee” did a heart-felt memorial to him; a very, very sad episode. Drugs are not recreational but a destroyer.

  2. It was awesome meeting the guys from GLEE, and learning about their show and intense work schedule, but it sounds like fun to me! I love the arts and the importance of arts education in our schools today. In high school, I was leader of the dance club, in the drama club, and choir, which was a wonderful diversion from my general education studies. What a blessing the arts is for youth, and I feel that GLEE emphasizes this importance.
