Do you sometimes feel surrounded by an ocean of troubles with waves crashing around you? What do you do to weather the storm? How do you keep a balanced life?
With the solid rock beneath my feet, centered in the stillness of my breath, I reach for the heavens and pray for help. In my case, it’s usually a loud cry for help!
No man is an island because we rely on each other. Everyone likes to live in their comfort zone, so change is usually not welcome but it comes anyway. Every moment our bodies are changing right down to the cellular level. If we should get a wound, it takes time to heal. A scratch will heal by itself but some injuries need attention. Relationships take effort, acceptance and flexibility. Thank goodness, the constant ‘Source of Love’ heals our broken spirits and renews our minds and bodies. Our friends, family and our community help make us who we are.
Ageless poet John Donne, first wrote, “No man is an island unto itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” Artists like Joan Baez inspire us…
No Man is an Island by Joan Baez
No man is an island, no man stands alone,
Each man’s joy is joy to me, each man’s grief is my own
We need one another, so I will defend,
Each man as my brother, each man as my friend.
I saw the people gather, I heard the music start,
The song that they were singing, is ringing in my heart.
No man is an island, way out in the blue,
We all look to the one above, for our strength to renew.
When I help my brother, then I know that I,
Plant the seed of friendship, that will never die.

Growing in vision: It was a welcomed experience to witness my long-time friend, Deborah Pratt enlighten an audience to her vision, “Being One, Remembering Your Inner Self.” Deborah’s message was given at the Conscious Life Expo where she spoke of staying in tune to love, staying on the positive path and protecting yourself. Her presentation was like a breath of fresh air. Deborah and I have shared an exciting past in the entertainment business and it is a blessing to continue to share each others journey in life. She is an award-winning writer for the Sci-Fi, television series, Quantum Leap and is an established author of the book trilogy, Vision Quest.

Growing in health: I’m grateful to guide those who are open to a healthier and better quality of life. In the picture at the top of this post, I am doing the Yoga posture called Reverse Warrior, a pose that strengthens and stretches. Serving as a Lifestyle Educator and Fitness Instructor at Kaiser Permanente, I am proud to announce a major new multi-specialty care site in Washington, D.C. The site is in the heart of the city, connected to Union Station, and a couple of blocks from the Capitol Building and the U.S. Supreme Court. We now are the largest operational care site close to the actual seat of government for our country.

I try to be receptive every moment of my day …whether wonderful or exasperating. I have faith that God navigates me to the people and places that I believe are connectors to meaningful adventures.
I like to seize every moment and make an effort to notice how I can offer a kind word, an encouraging smile or a laugh.

Thanks Darlene for your words of wisdom. I’m sure your Yoga students will benefit from your wisdom of body, mind and spirit too. Sending love.
Maria, great message – we are standing on the Rock and in His love. When you have experienced the fullness of life that we have experienced, we know the Truth and stay grounded in love.
You are a blessing to the world and you’re fitness classes are healing on every level.
Much love and light, Linda
Thanks, Linda. Our connection to blessings and healing is always there for us… Thank God!
Keep up the good work as you teach Yoga, Pilates etc.
xo, Maria
You have become such a wonderful writer Maria…. Back in the day, when we were young and bustling around, I never imagined you sitting down and truly reflecting the way you do now. Your words come true as clear–concise–feelings– of your own experiences.
And everything that has been dropped in your lap of life has been the co-author.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks Robyn for your kind comments. In our own way, we are spreading a vision of health.
Wishing you much success in helping others with your ‘Body Talk’ presentations world-wide.
Sending lots of love!
What a lovely inspiring message. Love, Mom
