Just this past season the ocean beckoned me into its cool refreshment but now I am settling into the Fall season, a time of reflection and reading. A time for being comfortable and cozy with the warm company of a good book.
Currently, I’m reading, ‘Keep Your Love On!… Connection, Communication & Boundaries’ by Danny Silk. Chapter One is loaded with powerful insights and food for thought. It is entitled, ‘Powerful People, Powerful Relationships’. Here are just a few quoted gems:
- “Powerful people take responsibility for their lives and choices. Powerful people choose who they want to be with, what they are going to pursue in life, and how they are going to go after it.”
- “A powerless person will consume whatever another person will offer up until the life of a once-happy, radiant flower has been mown to dirt. If you don’t believe me, talk to anyone who has been in a relationship with a powerless person. They will suck you dry – if you let them.”
- “The subconscious fears driving the triangulation dynamic in victims, bad guys, and rescuers go something like this: I live in a perpetual state of anxiety because I feel out of control. In adding you to my life, I have increased my anxiety because I can’t control you either. I’m threatened by everything you do that I didn’t decide for you. Until you let me control you, I don’t feel safe in this relationship. Unless you let me control you, you don’t love me.”
October is Domestic Violence month – Revealing Links
The statistics for women who have fatally suffered domestic violence is staggering.
Verbal abuse is also a form of domestic violence that can be a slow death.
The Upcoming Election
Now more than ever…
Now more than ever, we need a miracle and we, the people, can all be little miracles as we continue to pray for our leaders, no matter who wins.
Now more than ever, we need to connect with loving integrity to those along our path especially our family and friends.
Now more than ever, we need to extend a hand of compassion to those in need.
Now more than ever we need to realize that we, the people, are a community that is powerful.
The world and the media surely shows that we are out of control. As much as we try, life’s twists and turns can often leave a nauseating feeling in the pit of our stomach as we try to cope and rise above. As the classic movie star, Bette Davis said, ‘Fasten your seat belts…’
“Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. – Ephesians 6:14
Wishing you a powerful life in truth,
