About exercise…

Specific exercises can help you handle STRESS and CHALLENGES, become STRONGER, more FLEXIBLE and achieve a better QUALITY OF LIFE.

My classes are experiences of self discovery, self awareness and fun! We workout, play-out and work-in to develop well-being.

Check out my HEALTHY LIVING BUFFET of exercises. As your personal fitness chef, I’ll cook-up a plate of international fitness variations for your delight!

 

Maria Lauren is currently on-staff as a Healthy Living Educator/Motivator at Kaiser Permanente and Corporations in the Los Angeles area.

 

EXERCISE CLASS MENU

In my YOGA classes, you’ll practice deep breathing, stretches and postures to feel stronger, more flexible and more relaxed in an awareness of your body, mind and spirit in unity and balance.

 

In my PILATES classes, you’ll strengthen and stretch your total body especially your core: back, abdominals, buttock and thighs for a leaner look. The use of ‘exercise bands’ adds resistance training to increase your muscle strength and bone density.

 

In my TAI CHI FITNESS classes, you’ll focus on aligning healing energy (Chi) through slow movements and breathing techniques that gives an aerobic effect for better heart health and stress relief. Qigong and other exercise techniques are also performed to increase your balance, flexibility, muscle and bone strength.

 

In my DANCE GROOVE classes you’ll have fun ‘movin-n-groovin’ with Latin and international dance rhythms including an introduction to Zumba for better cardiovascular health that will help your body to burn fat. Specific exercises are added to the mix to improve your body strength and agility for your balanced fitness. (Flexible/athletic shoes are recommended to wear in class.)

You Got The Power!

Do we really have to work so hard to be fit and successful? No. Why not let your body do what comes naturally when you groove into fitness? Discover the many wonders happening within you that you may not even realize:

  • cells being renewed…
  • bones being fortified…
  • muscles made stronger…
  • organs and glands working in harmony with each other….

Start with a smile that starts from the inside out. Shake out all tension. Appreciate the miracle of life and you. Stretch out your muscles that might be tight. And most importantly, do it all with deep breadths.

Try this Deep Breathing Meditation that you can do when ever you need to release stress… whether at your desk, while exercising or when you can take a moment to be mindful of your breathing and feelings:

Inhale new energy into your body, exhale old energy out of your body.

Breathe in joy, breathe out sorrow.

Breathe in love, breathe out neglect.

Breathe in peace, breathe out anxiety.

Through the pattern of your breath, you will begin to find your groove. Get out of the house or office and take some deep breaths outside in the fresh air while appreciating the beauty of nature.

When you begin to move and groove, you will begin to find a sense of yourself. Make fitness fun. Go for a walk and talk with a friend. Laugh. Put your favorite music on and dance. Get your Zen on and do some Yoga. Meditate with the movements of Tai Chi. Find your core strength through Pilates.

Being healthy and fit has always been a part of my life, a part of my being. You see, I don’t think it should be something you strive for but something that is a part of you.

I feel blessed to teach the benefits of fitness as an exercise instructor and a lifestyle educator at Kaiser Permanente where each patient is valued and unique. I can’t help but smile when I see exercise participants making a decision to actively become more healthy. This positive spirit is evident whether I am teaching a group or training someone personally.

Variety is the spice and sweetness of fitness and life. Are you feeling spicy and strong (ready to sweat) or sweet and gentle (ready to breathe deeply)? Follow your groove while discovering the benefits of Tai Chi, Pilates, Yoga or whatever makes you feel more alive. Awaken your senses and challenge your body to thrive.
